The history
of Valentine's Day originated from the ancient history, Roman fertility
celebration of Lupercalis or Lupercalia, which is held on February 15. These festivities were significance the
pairing of young women and men by men drawing women’s names from a box which paired
the couple until the next year’s celebrations.

II believed that married men were emotionally attached to their families. Distracted soldiers were unable to concentrate,
the soldiers became weak and unmotivated. Emperor Claudius II declared that soldiers must

II came to know of the secret marriages and gave the order of execution of
Valentine on February 14, 270 AD. After
Valentine’s execution, priest moved Lupercalia from February 15 to February 14,
and renamed the festivity “St. Valentine’s Day” in the honour of Saint Valentine.
